The stories of the streets we walk on

Under the lime trees (Unter den Linden)

Unter den Linden - Sub tei

This street lives in Berlin

In the winter of 2007 I spent 3 days in Berlin. We arrived in the morning at 11:00. I left my luggages and then instantly left for a walk. I took the first S-Bahn that came and stepped out at a random station: Friedrichstraße.

Went out of the metro station and followed a random street. I had no idea where I was going. Reaching a huge library I decided to get in and buy some german book. But right after entering the store, I see in front of me a very familiar person. A man at about 50 years, tall, with gray hair was looking at some books together with her wife. 2 minute I discretely followed him through the bookstore, the a light went on and I remebered who he was. I came nearer to him, said hello and appologised for interrupting:
-Excuse me, are you that teacher X from that school in Istanbul?
Shocked, he replyed:
-Who are you?! Why are you asking?
-Well, I’m from Romania. I visited your school in Istanbul 2 years ago. This is where we met.
He then remebered me again (or pretended) and the discussion continued for few minutes. He too came few days to visit Berlin and randomly entered the same library I did.

Coincidences…

Unter den Linden is the boulevard I use to walk on every time I come to Berlin. I start from the Humboldt University and slowly follow it to the end. It is a very beautiful place, who knows how many secrets it’s hiding.
